This course introduces to the concept of a death doula and the roles and benefits of an end-of-life doula. It includes lessons learned by end-of-life practitioners about working clients at the end of life, as well as associated legal issues faced by people in this role.

This course addresses the law in Illinois for challenging an estate plan based on undue influence, the presumption that may arise in such cases when a fiduciary is involved, and the process for shifting the burden.

Satisfaction with politics in the US has been stagnating at near historic lows, which has led voters to look for solutions. The fastest growing reform efforts is Ranked Choice Voting (RCV). This program examines the benefits of RCV and how it might be implemented in Illinois.

More elders are dependent on third parties for daily care. This, combined with the facts that they have more financial resources than previous generations are living longer, have led to a major reshaping of elder care facilities. Long term care institutions and hospices are now almost entirely profit driven and often owned by investors rather than health care professionals.
